Encouraging the expansion of Solar Communities and Renewables.

An article about eCREW in e|m|w magazine

An interesting article about the Horizon 2020 eCREW research project was published by GreenPocket GmbH in the German magazine e|m|w 1|21. The article presents the innovative eCREW’s sheme of household cooperation in energy management and highlights the advantages of energy communities for both customers and suppliers.

Often the energy production of a single household exceeds the own consumption and therefore is not used properly. The project “establishing Community Renewable Energy Webs” (eCREW) was launched by the Energy Institute Linz in 2020 and aims to ensure that the produced energy is used more intelligently. For achieving that goal, eCREW encourages the development of so-called solar communities, basically a group of households using and trading the produced energy of at least one renewable energy source.

And not only the communities benefit from better solar-tariffs and an intuitive energy efficiency app, which provides a transparent insight into production as well as consumption data. The energy suppliers also benefit from competitive advantages, an improved image and customer loyalty.
